Name: Jordan Green (Founder, CEO) and Matt Bergman (VP of NIL)
Business: Glacier Marketing Group is a firm that does social media marketing, influencer partnerships, content creation, and NIL. Glacier marketing has three focuses: NIL, content creation, and events.
NIL (Name, Image and Likeness): Help college athletes grow their social media and acquire endorsements
Content Creation: Creating content for Glacier Marketing and clients (e.g. working on a podcast, managing / working with TikTok influencers, DJs, athletes, musicians to improve their brands)
Events: Host events to expand brand awareness. In September, we hosted a “Battle of the Bands” event at Kilroy’s Sports and were 98% sold out (1,180 tickets). We are working on bringing big rappers and DJs into Bloomington. Right now we want to connect these big popular brands with college student life. We most recently got contracted with Fox Sports to help them with their Big Noon Kickoff live show to do experiential marketing and fan engagement in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We were also working with Fox Sports at Indiana to get the students to come out to the show and engage in their event.
What is your story?
Jordan: I have been doing social media marketing since I was 16/17 years old, starting with just social media pages (e.g. meme pages and influencer media). I founded Glacier Marketing Group in 2021, when I was a senior in high school. At the time I was too young to register the business as an LLC, so I had to co-sign with a tax attorney. That’s when I started to legitimize what I was doing. During the summer of 2021, we were reaching out to brands, and connecting them with influencers. It was basically just me working on it, with some help from my friends back home in Alaska. After I started school, at Indiana University, I had gone from working with TikTok influencers in high school to working with college athletes on NIL. I brought Matt onto the team to manage the NIL component of Glacier Marketing last summer.
Matt: Jordan and I met the first week of school, and just started learning about the business and what he does. I didn’t have the same background in marketing that Jordan had. I started working with Glacier on brand relations initially and ended up closing some big deals this summer.
What has been the most valuable thing you have learned as an entrepreneur?:
Jordan: The biggest thing I have learned is that you need to be disciplined, consistent, and always progressing.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received as an entrepreneur?
Matt: We got advice from Mark Cuban a few weeks ago. We were in a tough spot on figuring out our overarching purpose and how we can divvy up our time to cover all of our areas, so we reached out. Mark told us that in our business, we should “go where the references take you.” We have been doing that since and it’s been very helpful for us. We have really been flexible with all of our clients, catering to what they need specifically. This has helped us open more opportunities in new markets.
What has been the most valuable resource you have utilized at the university?
The Shoebox has been a massive help for us. Our client manager helps us formulate structure. We have a mission and a vision and get support from The Shoebox on how to structure and delegate work.
What has been the most valuable resource to you outside of IU?
Being involved in greek life, I have been able to bring different brand opportunities. It has been very helpful in getting opportunities for our company.
